Polly the Parrot emerges winner of Frontier Airlines new animal search

Frontier Airlines recently announced Polly the Parrot as the winner of its new animal search. The wise-cracking parrot named Polly survived two rounds of public votes to finally emerge as the winner.

Frontier Airlines flights will now don a new look with the newest animal taking the coveted spot on an aircraft’s tail of the airline.

The airline launched its new animal search on March 12, 2012, with 18 contenders in the fray. The contenders were voted by the public on the airline’s website, with three contenders making it to the finals on April 9, 2012. The final three contenders included Chloe the chipmunk, Enrique the tree frog and Polly the Parrot.

The voting for the finals took place on April 15, 2012. Polly the Parrot ultimately made it to the top with 39 percent of the vote, and was declared the winner. Chloe the chipmunk was placed in the second position with 36 percent of the vote, while Enrique the tree frog came third receiving 25 percent of the votes.

Dan Krause, Frontier Airline’s Vice President of Marketing and Customer Experience, said that it was indeed a tight race all the way, but Polly the Parrot came out on top with flying colors garnering 39 percent of the votes.

Krause said that with about 65,000 unique votes being cast throughout the campaign it became quite evident that the people feel strongly about which animal should join the airline’s current cast of characters, and that the airline looks forward to integrating Polly into the upcoming campaigns.
