Garuda Indonesia to include airport tax in airline tickets prices from September 28

Indonesia’s national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia recently announced it is now ready to include the airport tax (passenger service charge) in the airline tickets prices.
 
The airline in a statement said that the prices of Garuda Indonesia flights tickets will go up from September 28, 2012.

According to the airline, the newly-introduced system would be first implemented at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Cengkareng, Banten, the country’s main gateway just west of Jakarta. Later on, the airline plans to introduce this system at all the airports throughout Indonesia.

The airline has now decided to implement the system after several weeks of delay. This system was earlier expected to be implemented from September 1 this year, but the plan was put on hold by some weeks because of the problems being confronted to make the airline’s IT system compatible with the airport’s system. The airline wasn’t able to move forward on this as it couldn’t fulfill the guidelines set by International Air Transport Association.

Garuda Indonesia said that nationwide airports like Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung, West Java; Minangkabau International Airport in Padang, West Sumatra; Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport in Pekanbaru, Riau; and Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport in Palembang, South Sumatra are likely to begin implementing the new system in 2014.
