Great Lakes Airlines set for record passenger traffic in Vernal

Great Lakes Aviation, Ltd., operator of Great Lakes Airlines, has indicated that it is well on its way to set a record year in terms of passenger traffic in Vernal, Utah. The company said that Great Lakes Airlines is quite pleased with its feat that it is going to achieve here in 2013.

Great Lakes Airlines started offering its flights services in Vernal in the year 2008. The airline began flight operations here after being awarded the Essential Air Service contract by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
The airline said that it carried 5,406 passengers during its first year of operations in 2008. However, the following year in 2009, there was a sharp drop in passenger numbers to 3,780 after being impacted by the recession.
 
But, the impact of recession was a short-lived affair for Great Lakes Airlines. The airline said that its passenger numbers in Vernal had been on the upswing in the years 2010, 2011 and 2012. The airline said that its passenger numbers increased to 4,428 in 2010. The next year 2011 also saw a sharp increase to 5,597, while in 2012 it was 7,244.

Regarding the passenger numbers in 2013, Great Lakes Airline said that the first seven months of this year had already seen passenger traffic hitting to 4,812. The airline further said that in July this year the passenger traffic has increased by 30 percent.

Chuck Howell, CEO of Great Lakes Airlines, has expressed utmost satisfaction and happiness at the outcome. He said that this is a record year for Vernal and Great Lakes Airlines, and that he wanted to extend his heartfelt thanks to all the customers.
