Gulf Air to stop flights in many destinations

Gulf Air flights to several destinations will be stopped starting from March 2012. The airline in a statement said that the passengers will not be able to book Gulf Air tickets to Damascus, Athens, Milan and Kuala Lumpur now as the flights to these destinations will be stopped.

The airline has disclosed that it will stop flights to Damascus from March 2. The flights to Athens and Milan will discontinue their operations from March 12. The airline will also stop operating flights to Kuala Lumpur from March 25.

Bahrain’s flag carrier Gulf Air said that it is being forced to stop flight operations to these destinations due to severe financial worries it had to confront in recent times due to political unrest in the Middle East region, as well as spiraling fuel prices and low passenger numbers.

The airline had earlier this month also announced the closure of Geneva and Entebbe routes.
