Hawaiian Airlines new flights and other carriers likely to benefit Hawaii

The recent launch of new Hawaiian Airlines flights from Honolulu to Fukuoka has significantly boosted air travel to Hawaii Islands. Other carriers have also contributed to the growth of tourism in Hawaii with additional air capacity this year.

The Airline Seat Capacity Outlook Report for the second quarter of 2012 released recently by the Hawaii Tourism Authority outlined that the total scheduled seat capacity to Hawaii state is likely to grow to 5.8 percent over the same period last year.

The report further stated that the total scheduled seat capacity growth will be projecting gains from US West and all of Hawaii’s major international source markets.

According to the report, scheduled seats from Japan may increase 20.8 percent in Q2 2012. The increase in the capacity will be due to additional seats from Osaka (44.7 percent) and Nagoya (51.6 percent), and new flights from Honolulu to Fukuoka by Hawaiian Airlines and Delta Air Lines.

Air Canada and WestJet Airlines flights services are also likely to increase nonstop seats from Canada to Hawaii by 3.9 percent in Q2 2012 over the same period last year.
