Hawaiian Airlines to create new hub at Maui

Hawaiian Airlines recently announced that it is planning to create a new hub at Maui soon.

By creating a Maui hub, the airline intends to increase the number of flights from Kahului to other islands as well as select locations on the West Coast.  The move being taken by Hawaiian Airlines will significantly increase service by 25 percent. Over the next two months, there will be a statewide increase of 23 to 25 flights.

Half of the increased flights will be serving the Maui hub, including one-third providing additional nonstop flights to Hawai’i Island and Kaua’I from Maui.

Hawaiian Airlines has also disclosed that it is likely to launch nonstop flights to Los Angeles from Maui in June 2012. With the expected launch of flights, Los Angeles will become the fifth destination where Hawaiian Airlines will be operating nonstop flights from Maui. Other four destinations include Seattle, Las Vegas, Oakland and San Jose.
