Hawaiian Airlines top On-Time Airline in US for 8th year

Hawaiian Airlines has disclosed that it continues to remain No. 1 airline in the United States in terms of maintaining punctuality with its flight schedules.

The US Department of Transportation’s Air Travel Consumer Report issued recently for December and the full year 2011 said that Hawaiian Airlines is ranked as No.1 on-time airline in the US for an eighth straight year.

Hawaiian Airlines flights averaged a 92.8 percent on-time performance for 2011, ranking No.1 in 11 of the 12 months and exceeding the industry average for the year by 13.2 percentage points. According to the report, Hawaiian Airlines’ on-time performance for December 2011 was 91.0 percent, ranking second to AirTran Airways at 91.9 percent.

The report further revealed that the aviation industry’s best overall result for fewest flight cancellations in 2011 was also held by Hawaiian Airlines. This has also earned the airline No. 1 ranking in 8 of the 12 months. Providing details, the report outlined that Hawaiian Airlines had 122 cancellations out of 66,740 total flights in 2011, an average of approximately 0.2 percent for the year.

Hawaiian Airlines is the largest and longest-serving carrier in Hawaii Islands, currently serving between Honolulu and the neighbor islands of Kauai, Maui and Hawaii Island (Hilo and Kona).
