Hawaiian Airlines upgrading capacity on Sydney-Honolulu route

Hawaiian Airlines recently announced it will be increasing its capacity on the Sydney-Honolulu route starting from April 25, 2012. The upgrading plan will be put into effect almost one month earlier than originally planned.

The airline in a statement said that it will upgrade daily Hawaiian Airlines flights on the Sydney-Honolulu route by deploying a new, larger Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

The airline is currently operating the route with the help of Boeing 767-300ER aircraft. According to its new plan, the airline will now deploy 294-seat Airbus A330 aircraft configured in a two-class cabin. Airbus A330 will have 30 additional seats that the Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.

Hawaiian Airlines disclosed that the upgrade will significantly increase the airline’s Sydney-Honolulu seat capacity by 210 seats per week, or almost 11,000 seats per year.

The airline further announced that the new A330s it has acquired will help it to launch flights on new routes. The airline stated that it will begin daily, nonstop services between Honolulu and New York City starting June 4, 2012.
