Hawaiian Airlines welcomes fourth Airbus A330 in its fleet

There will be more Hawaiian Airlines flights to various destinations on Airbus A330s as the airline has included another aircraft in its fleet. Hawaiian Airlines recently welcomed its newest Airbus A330-200 aircraft into its fleet and deployed it into the service. The aircraft, named ‘Keali‘iokonaikalewa’, was received by the airline at its Honolulu base with the traditional Hawaiian blessing.

Hawaiian Airlines in a statement said that it has named each of its new Airbus A330 aircraft after a star or constellation, which was used for celestial navigation by Polynesians in ancient times when they set out in canoes on voyage across the Pacific to Hawaii.

The recent Airbus A330 aircraft addition is the fourth to join the Hawaiian Airlines’ fleet this year. Overall, the airline has acquired nine aircrafts ever since the company started its long-haul fleet expansion and renewal program initiated in June 2010.
 
Hawaiian Airlines is scheduled to include 13 new Airbus A330 aircrafts in its fleet between 2013 and 2015. The airline plans to have a total of 22 Airbus A330 aircrafts in its fleet.
