Iberia Airline launches new three-way fare structure to Europe

Spanish carrier Iberia Airline recently launched a new three-way fare structure exclusively for its customers traveling to domestic and European destinations. The fares have been split into three groups – Basic, Classic and Flexible. The new fares will now affect nearly all the destinations in Spain and Europe being currently served by Iberia Airline, Iberia Express and Air Nostrum.

According to Iberia Airline, the Basic fare will be available for passengers traveling in Economy Class. This cheapest fare category is only for those passengers carrying only a hand luggage. The Classic fare will allow each passenger to bring one piece of luggage and will be offering a choice of seating as well as the facility to change the ticket for a fee.

Iberia Airline further said that those traveling on Flexible fares would not be penalized for changes. The customers would get a refund on their tickets for a fee, and would be given priority when boarding. The airline has already introduced the new fares effective from September 7, 2013.

Marco Sansavini, Iberia Airline’s Commercial Director, said that the new fare model has been designed to meet the expectations and the needs of the customers. He said that this model is best suited to those who want to choose the price and service levels of their liking. He also said that this would help the airline to benefit in a big way by enlarging its customer base, generating additional revenues and ably compete in a market that is fast evolving at an extraordinary pace.
