Iberia Plus frequent flyers program modified

Iberia Airlines has announced major changes to its Iberia Plus frequent flyers program, which will enable about 5 million members to avail several benefits.

According to new modifications, the old Iberia Plus points get multiplied by 15 to later on become Avios points, while maintaining their bull redemption value.

Earlier, the Iberia Plus points were awarded on the basis of geographical zones. However, the new changes means that the frequent flyers will get an opportunity to earn more points as the new Avios points will be awarded on the basis of real distances flown. Thus, one Avios point will be earned for each air mile flown.

Providing further details about the new changes, Iberia Airlines said that business class frequent flyers will get an opportunity to earn 1.5 points per mile. However, those paying promotional fares will be earning 0.6 of a point per mile, which is double the 0.3 points per mile earned earlier.

Besides, 500 Avios points will be earned by the members of frequent flyers program irrespective of the fare paid on flights of less than 500 air miles.

The airline also said that the tourist class passengers will get a chance to earn one Avios point for every air mile flown on the routes covered by the Joint Business Agreement with British Airways and American Airlines.

The frequent flyers can earn or spend Avios points be doing business with any of the 90 partners of Iberia Airlines.
