Iberia to offer boarding passes on NFC enabled phones

Iberia, Spain’s own airline is marching ahead on the technological front. The airline just recently announced its partnership with Samsung to offer boarding passes to its travelers on their NFC enable phones. The airline has collaborated with the Korean smart phone maker to equip its passengers with the latest service.

In line with its changing philosophies, the airline now aims at rushing through the otherwise sloppy baggage check-in process. Passengers will be able to download information at its Quick Service Point kiosks and at the airport lounges. Going forth travelers booking Iberia airline tickets to the cities like Boston, Chicago, Miami, and New York will access their boarding passes during the online check-in procedure. This will free the passengers from physically collecting their boarding passes at the airport check-in counters.

An official from the phone company has clarified that the boarding pass would be stored in the SIM card instead of fixed protected constituent. Since the reading process will not consume much time, this idea will thus swifter the overall check-in rate to the comfort of the passengers and the airline management staff. Interestingly, this service will function even when the traveler’s phone is switched off or has a flat battery.

The Spanish carrier is based out of Madrid–Barajas Airport and flies to almost 75 destinations worldwide. The airline has faced tumultuous times in the past but is now overcoming the rough times by incorporating technology into its day-to-day operations. It is looking forward to becoming an example by showing the world that it is capable of proving smooth connections.
