JetBlue Airways January 2012 traffic up 13.3 percent

JetBlue Airways recently announced its operational results for January 2012 and exuded optimism over the outcome.

Outlining its preliminary traffic results for January this year, the airline said that its passenger traffic increased 13.3 percent from January 2011, on a capacity increase of 12.3 percent.

Providing further details, the airline said that its load factor for January 2012 was 80.7 percent, an increase of 0.7 points from January 2011. Its preliminary completion factor was 99.7 percent, while its on-time performance was 81.1 percent.

JetBlue Airways’ preliminary passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) for January 2012 increased 10 percent y-o-y. However, the airline said that the PRASM for the month of February 2012 is likely to increase between seven and eight percent y-o-y.

New York’s Hometown Airline JetBlue flights operate out of its hubs in Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles and Orlando.

Currently, JetBlue Airways operates 700 daily flights to 70 cities in the US. JetBlue Airways flight reservations will be available once the airline begins its service to Dallas-Fort Worth in May 2012.
