JetBlue Airways says Q4 results to be impacted by Hurricane Sandy

Hurricane Sandy, which wreaked havoc for three days October 29-31 in the U.S., has severely impacted JetBlue Airways flights services and those of other U.S. and international carriers. The hurricane and its aftermath is having a direct bearing on the aviation industry and will be hurting Q4 results this year, both in terms of revenues and earnings.

JetBlue Airways recently announced that its flights cancellations due to superstorm Sandy is forcing it suffer huge financial losses in the fourth quarter of this year. Another U.S. carrier Delta Air Lines too echoed similar sentiments and said that it too is facing huge losses in Q4.

According to JetBlue Airways, a weaker short-term flight demand is highly likely as customers are still struggling to rebuild themselves after the storm. The airline is based at New York and operates out of John F. Kennedy International Airport.

JetBlue Airways was forced to cancel 1,484 flights in October and 230 flights in November this year because of superstorm Sandy.
