JetBlue releases its traffic results for the period March 2014

JetBlue Airways has reported its results for the month ending March 2014. The airline declared its traffic results for the third month of this year and these results reflected slight increase in the traffic for the given month.

The New York based airline said that the traffic increased 0.9 percent on a year on year basis on a capacity basis of 3.7 percent. The airline, which operates out of its hub in John F. Kennedy International Airport, said that the load factor for the given month was recorded at 84.8 percent. It further added that these figures witnessed a decline of 2.3 percent in comparison to March 2013 results.

It also said that its preliminary completion factor was recorded at 98.0 percent while its on-time performance stood at 77.2 percent. However, it said that its preliminary passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) for the same period fell 8 percent in comparison to the figures of March 2013. The airline reasoned by saying that the March 2014 PRASM was negatively influenced by the fact that Passover and Easter holidays have shifted this year.

The airline at present flies to about 84 destinations within the United States and the Caribbean, Jamaica, Mexico, Bahamas, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Dominican Republic. JetBlue Airways Corporation owns the airline. The German airline group Lufthansa Group to owns a 15.85 percent stake in this airline.
