Korean Air being wooed by Alberta authorities to begin flights to Canada

Provincial authorities of Alberta want Korean Air flights into Canada now. Korean Air recently indicated that it is being aggressively wooed by a provincial delegation from Alberta as they want the airline to begin flights and provide access to Albertans to the entire Asian continent.

A delegation from Alberta Province comprising Premier Alison Redford, Minister of Tourism, Parks and Recreation Christine Cusanelli and Culture Minister Heather Klimchuk was on a visit to London where they held meeting with Chairman and CEO of Korean Air Yang Ho Cho.

Cusanelli said that starting of scheduled, nonstop flights regularly to/from Asia would be a boon to the tourism industry of Alberta and would also be highly beneficial for local businesses into regular deals with Asian clientele.

Air Canada presently offers flights services to Tokyo from Calgary. This is the only direct service to Asia from Alberta Province. Earlier, Korean Air briefly offered charter service during the summer of 2010.
