Korean Air introduces new baggage policy

Korean Air recently announced it is introducing a new baggage policy (Piece system for all routes) effective from May 31, 2012 (based on ticketing date). The new changes will be applicable to Elite Members, who will be able to enjoy additional baggage allowance benefits.

According to the airlines, Million Miler Club members taking Korean Air flights to/from Americas will now be allowed additional 1Piece (Max.32 kg/70lbs) for all routes, apart from the existing 1Piece (Max.23 kg/50lbs). Other itinerary excluding to/from Americas will be allowed 30 kg as per earlier baggage policy.

Under the new baggage policy, Morning Calm Premium Club members booking Korean Air flights tickets to/from Americas will be allowed additional 1Piece (Max.23 kg/50lbs) for all routes. For First or Prestige Class, the maximum weight for 1 piece of free baggage allowance is 32 kg/70lbs. This is in addition to the existing policy allowing 1Piece (Max. 23 kg/50lbs) free baggage. For other itinerary excluding to/from Americas, the members are allowed 20 kg of free baggage.

The Morning Calm Club members will be allowed additional 10 kg from/to all routes excluding Americas. For Economy Class, the maximum weight for 1 piece of free baggage allowance is 32 kg/70lbs for all routes excluding travel to/from the Americas (but inclusive of the islands of Guam and Palau).
