Korean Air joins SkyTeam, introduces SkyPriority

South Korea’s flag carrier Korean Air recently announced it has joined the global airline alliance SkyTeam. The airline also introduced SkyPriority, deemed to be the first alliance-wide, red carpet treatment for the customers of all 15 SkyTeam member airlines.

The SkyPriority is being seen as the first-of-its-kind concept in the airline industry. This will allow Korean Air flights in association with SkyTeam to offer premium service to the passengers.

The exclusive range of SkyPriority services will be offered to Elite Plus, First and Business Class customers of the 15 SkyTeam member airlines.

SkyPriority services include priority check-in areas; priority baggage drop-off; priority service at airport ticket offices; priority service at transfer desks; priority lines at security, where available; priority boarding; and priority baggage handling.

SkyPriority services program was launched on March 1, 2012. For the first time, it was implemented at Taipei International Airport by China Airlines, SkyTeam’s newest member airline. It was later on followed by worldwide hubs, such as Amsterdam, Paris CDG, Atlanta, Guangzhou, Rome, Nairobi and Seoul among many others, throughout the month of March.

The program will be rolled-out gradually at more than 800 airports around the globe throughout the year, with over 1,000 airports in 2013.
