Korean Air new codeshare agreement with WestJet Airlines takes effect

Passengers taking Korean Air flights will also be able to purchase WestJet Airlines operated flights in North America.

Korean Air recently announced the launch of ticket sales under the new codeshare agreement with WestJet Airlines.

The airline in a statement said that the codeshare agreement would provide enhanced travel options for Korean Air passengers with connections to up to 70 WestJet Airlines flights within its US network.

The codeshare agreement follows an impressive performance by Korean Air in terms of passenger traffic in the first quarter of this year. The airline disclosed that its passenger traffic had picked up by up to 12.6 percent for the Q1 2012 as compared to the same period in 2011.

John MacLeod, WestJet Airlines’ Vice-President, Network Management and Alliances, expressed his delight over the new codeshare agreement with Korean Air. He said that the codeshare pact with South Korea’s flag carrier is another key step in WestJet Airlines’ strategy to welcome onboard new travelers from around the world.
