Korean Air wins A330 Operational Excellence Award

South Korea’s national carrier Korean Air recently announced it has emerged as the winner of ‘A330 Operational Excellence Award’.
 
The airline received the award for being the best operator of A330 at a event held in Thailand’s capital Bangkok.

This is the airline’s seventh award since the year 2000, which it won at the Technical Symposium at Bangkok held from June 12 to June 14.

The awards are given by aircraft maker Airbus at the Technical Symposium event held every two years. The awards are given to the best performing airlines operating A330 and A340 on the basis of a thorough evaluation of their overall performance that includes aircraft utilization and on-time operation rate.

Korean Air in a statement said that it has so far between 2003 and 2011 received a total of four A300-600 Operational Excellence Awards.
From 2010 to 2011, Korean Air flights reported the highest recorded on-time operation rate of 99.78 percent amongst 120 airlines. The airline currently operates a total of 23 Airbus A330 aircrafts.
