Lufthansa aiming flights from Indo-China hub

Germany’s flag carrier Lufthansa recently stated that it considers the emerging markets of Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar as strategic and wants to start long-haul flights to these regions from its hub in Bangkok in Thailand.

According to media reports, the leading German carrier is looking at the possibility to develop Lufthansa flights into these markets from Bangkok.

Currently, Lufthansa operates flights to Vietnam and acknowledges the two-way opportunities for business and leisure travelers coming from aboard and also relatives of immigrants returning to Indo-China to visit or conduct business.

Meanwhile, Lufthansa in a statement said that it is all set to begin operating six flights every week on the Frankfurt-Washington route from June 1, 2012. The flight will be conducted on the airline’s first Boeing 747-8, which has just been delivered from Seattle.

The airline stated that over the next few months this year, four more new Boeing 747-8 aircrafts will be joining Lufthansa’s fleet, and the number of destinations will also be gradually increased when the new Boeings finally join the fleet. The airline will be offering Boeing 747-8 flights to Delhi, Bangalore, Chicago and Los Angeles by late summer.
