Lufthansa launches new mobile boarding pass via Passbook app

Passengers booking Lufthansa flights tickets will now be able to get their boarding pass issued on their iPhone devices. Germany’s national flag carrier Lufthansa recently announced the launch of a new Passbook app for the iPhone iOS 6 operating system.

The airline in a statement said that with the launch of this new Passbook app, the customers booking Lufthansa flights will now be able to have their boarding pass issued in the appropriate format.

The airline further stated that the customers can also opt to get their mobile boarding pass issued on their iPhone from now onwards via the Passbook function.

According to Lufthansa, once the customers have completed their mobile check-in procedure successfully, their boarding pass would be delivered to their iPhone and saved to the new Passbook app. The customers would then be able to access their mobile boarding pass at any time even without the access to Internet.

The airline said that since Passbook is time and location aware, the boarding pass would appear instantly on the customers’ lock screen in time for their flight.

Lufthansa has now become one of the first airlines in the world to make available the Passbook functionality to its customers.
