Lufthansa to stop flights between London City and Munich from Oct 26

Germany’s flag carrier Lufthansa has announced that it will stop flying between London City and Munich from October this year.

The airline in a statement said that Lufthansa flights between London City and Munich will continue to fly presently, but will be finally grounded from October 26, 2012. The airline is currently operating twice daily weekday service between London City and the Bavarian capital.

Lufthansa is the only carrier now which is serving London City airport from Munich. However, it is still unclear whether Lufthansa flights on London City-Munich route will be taking over by another carrier or not.

After Lufthansa finally grounds its flight between these two cities, the passengers who want to fly between London City and Munich after October 26 will have to take connecting Lufthansa flights over Frankfurt, the fares of which will be higher.

The airline said that it has decided to stop the flights as the route has not been economically viable.
