Visit Malaysia Year promotion raises hopes for Malaysia Airlines expansion in India

Travelers from Malaysia and other Asian cities are likely to see more Malaysia Airlines flights expanding into many Indian cities.

Malaysia Airlines recently said that the Visit Malaysia Year 2013/2014 promotional campaign is auguring well for the expansion of its flight network in India. The airline has recently increased its flight frequencies from key Indian cities, such as Chennai and Mumbai.

Azahar Hamid, Malaysia Airlines’ Regional Senior Vice President Middle East & South Asia, said that the airline has already increased its flight frequency to Indian cities to 50 weekly flights from the earlier 40 weekly flights.

The airline took the decision to increase its flight frequencies in an attempt to attract more travelers to India from Kuala Lumpur and other Malaysian cities. The airline is also making extensive efforts to improve tourist arrivals to Malaysia.

Malaysia Airlines has increased its capacity and added more flights from Chennai, Bangalore and Mumbai. The airline is targeting 26.8 million tourist arrivals or an increase of 42 percent.
