Philippine Airlines considering flights to London Heathrow

Philippine Airlines wants to fly to London if provided an opportunity to do so. The airline recently indicated it is considering Philippine Airlines flights to London Heathrow airport once the carriers from Philippine are finally allowed to once again begin flights to European Union member states.

Mar Roxas, Philippine’s Transportation and Communications Secretary, said that it is quite possible that Philippine Airlines could begin flights to the UK as part of its route expansion. He said that there are still unused frequencies which can be utilized by the country’s oldest carrier.

Currently, there are no direct flights services between any point in Europe and the Philippines. The direct service between Manila and Amsterdam was stopped by Air France/KLM earlier this year, after complaints about high airline taxes being levied on foreign carriers operating long-haul flights out of Philippine. Presently, the Amsterdam service is being served out of Manila via Hong Kong.

San Miguel Corp, the owner of Philippine Airlines, recently said in a statement that the company will be restoring Philippine Airlines flights to Europe as well as expand its operations in the United States.
