Philippine Airlines continue to dominate international market segment in Q1

The sale of Philippine Airlines flights tickets to international destinations proved to be good in the first quarter of this year.

Philippine’s Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) recently released its statistics saying that Philippine Airlines flights continued to dominate in the international market segment with 1 million passengers in the first quarter of 2012, which is 10.3 percent higher as compared to the same period in 2011.

According to CAB, Philippine Airlines was the only airline in the Philippines with over a million of international passengers in the first three-month period of this year.

Providing the overall passenger traffic results for Q1 2012, the CAB in its report said that the number of passengers flying to international destinations out of the Philippines from January to March increased by 8.8 percent y-o-y to 3.83 million.

The Civil Aeronautics Board placed the budget carrier Cebu Pacific in the second place for carrying 504,174 passengers to international destinations during the period, an increase of 4.3 percent over 483,182 passengers in the same quarter of 2010.

According to CAB, local carriers Southeast Asian Airlines (SEAir) and Philippine Airlines’ domestic arm Airphil Express carried 35,509 passengers and 38,940 passengers, respectively, in the first quarter.
