Philippine Airlines may begin Muscat-Manila service next year

Media reports recently indicated that Philippine Airlines is planning to start regular service between Philippines and Oman next year. The airline has applied to the Philippines Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) seeking approval for the new service between the capital cities of the two countries.

The reports said that Philippine Airlines plans to operate flights between Manila and Muscat four times every week. The new service is likely to begin from January 30, 2014 after it is approved by the regulatory body.

While applying to the CAB, Philippine Airlines said that its request for starting regular service to Muscat is based upon the existing Air Service Agreement between the two countries that was signed in December 2009.

The airline has recently launched flights to several destinations in the Middle East, including Dammam, Jeddah, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Philippine Airlines is currently upbeat over its growth prospects following positive signs in the Philippine economy. The airline believes that the country’s exciting tourist destinations makes it an ideal gateway to other Asian cities.
