Philippine Airlines may impose fuel surcharge on European flights

Philippine Airlines has filed a petition with the Civil Aeronautics Board requesting to impose a $170 fuel surcharge on all its flights bound for Europe. Philippine Airlines, which will start flying to London this November, has also identified other European routes. In future, the airline plans to begin flights on other European routes including Frankfurt, Madrid, Rome, Paris and Amsterdam.

Philippine Airlines has indicated that it will start its flight operations to London starting from November 4, 2013. The airline will be offering five flights every week. A Boeing 777-300ER aircraft would be deployed to operate flights on Manila-London route.

Cebu Pacific is yet another Filipino carrier which has filed a petition to increase its fuel surcharge on flights to South Korea. The airline wants to increase fuel surcharges up to $58 on flights to Seoul Incheon and Busan to be operated from Manila. At the same time, the airline also wants to increase fuel surcharges on flights from Cebu to Busan and Seoul Incheon. The petitions of both Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific are to be reviewed this September.
