Philippine Airlines, other carriers to charge terminal fees on domestic flights

Passengers taking Philippine Airline flights as well as on other Filipino carriers will now have to pay more on their air tickets.

Major Filipino carriers recently signed a memorandum of agreement with the Manila International Airport Authority and Philippine’s Department of Transportation and Communications to integrate the terminal fees into the total cost of airline tickets.

According to the agreement, all Filipino carriers will now begin collecting the terminal fee from the passengers taking domestic flights starting from August 1, 2012. 

The agreement will provide a relief to domestic passengers as they will now not be required to take the trouble of lining up at terminal fee counters at the airports prior to boarding their flights.

Leading Filipino carriers like Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific Airways and Zestair have, however, said that charging terminal fees from their respective passengers boarding domestic flights would be an additional burden to them, and they would be charging the government a “very minimal” service fee.
