Philippine Airlines overhauling its fleet, to buy 54 Airbus aircrafts

Philippine Airlines flights network on various international destinations is due to be expanded as the airline is seeking to overhaul its fleet.

Philippine Airlines recently announced it will be purchasing 54 Airbus aircrafts at an estimated $7 billion. The airline has signed a deal with the aircraft maker to fulfill its ambitious plan of overhauling its entire fleet.

The airline in a statement said that acquiring new aircrafts have become necessary keeping in view the growing need to transport a large number of passengers as well as cargo in Asia, Australia and the Middle East.

Ramon Ang, President of Philippine Airlines, said that the airline would be receiving its first batch of about a dozen Airbus A330-300 and A321 aircrafts in January next year. He also said that the airline would be receiving and later on deploying the rest of the aircrafts into service in the next three years.
