Qatar Airways oneworld membership to boost Phuket flights

Qatar Airways flights to Phuket from Doha are likely to get a boost with the airline finally announcing that it has now become a member of oneworld global airline alliance.

The 11-member oneworld frequent-flier alliance had formally invited Qatar Airways to become the newest member of the group on October 8, 2012. With this formal invitation, Qatar Airways will become the 12th member of oneworld alliance.

According to Qatar Airways, its integration into oneworld alliance is likely to take 12 to 18 months. American Airlines is the prominent member of the oneworld alliance. Among other members include British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways and Qantas Airways.

Qatar Airways is currently offering its flights services between Phuket and Doha. The airline after receiving the formal invitation to join oneworld alliance said that the flights services between the two destinations are likely to get a major boost.

The oneworld alliance presently has 810 destinations in 149 countries in its network. The member airlines of oneworld together carry 324 million passengers every year.
