Qatar Airways reconsidering launching flights to Belgrade

Qatar Airways flights are unlikely to be launched to the Serbian capital Belgrade after refusal of permission from Turkey.

Media reports quoted the airline as saying that it is reconsidering its decision to launch flights to Belgrade as Turkey has turned down its request to operate Qatar Airways flights services between Belgrade and Doha via Turkish capital Ankara.

The airline had originally planned to launch the flights in late September this year. However, the launch of flights has run into difficulties now because Turkey says it will not grant fifth freedom rights to the airline, thus allowing it to sell Qatar Airways flights tickets on the Ankara-Belgrade-Ankara sector.

Qatar Airways had earlier indicated that after getting flying rights it was to operate the flights services four times every week with the help of Airbus A320 aircraft.

The airline is currently operating flights to Zagreb via Budapest and has been given full rights to sell its tickets between Zagreb and Budapest.
