Qatar Airways to begin scheduled flights to Chengdu in March

Qatar Airways recently announced it will be launching its scheduled flights to Chengdu in March next year. This will be the airline’s sixth destination in the People’s Republic of China.
 
The airline in a statement said that Qatar Airways flights to Chengdu from Doha would be launched from March 19, 2013.
 
The Doha-based carrier would be operating thrice weekly flights to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province in Southwest China. With the launch of flights to Chengdu, the airline’s total weekly frequency across China would be 41 flights. The nonstop services would be offered across six cities in the country.

Chengdu is considered to be one of the most important economic, communication and transportation hubs in western China. It is also among the top 10 cities out of 280 in the country for investment.

Currently, Qatar Airways is offering 38 flights services every week to Hong Kong, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing from its Doha hub.
