SilkAir launching nonstop Visakhapatnam-Singapore flights from October 28

Singapore Airlines’ regional wing SilkAir recently announced it will be launching flights between Visakhapatnam and Singapore in October this year.

The airline in a statement said that SilkAir flights would be launched thrice weekly nonstop between Singapore and Visakhapatnam starting from October 28, 2012.

G. M. Toh, General Manager of SilkAir (India), said that SilkAir has become the first carrier to offer nonstop international air connectivity from Visakhapatnam.

The airline would be deploying Airbus A319 and Airbus A320 aircrafts to operate flights on Visakhapatnam-Singapore route. Both the aircrafts will feature business class and economy class cabins.

According to SilkAir, the nonstop flights between Singapore and Visakhapatnam would be operated three times every week, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The return flights would depart the next day.

The airline said that the launch of flights to Visakhapatnam will make it SilkAir’s eighth destination in India. The new connectivity to Visakhapatnam will also help the airline to expand its global route to 42 destinations in 12 countries.
