Your flights to/from Key West will become quite cheaper now. Silver Airways has announced it is drastically reducing its fares to Key West. The reduction will be up to 50 percent. The airline has also scrapped change fees on all flights originating to/from Key West.
Silver Airways in a statement said that a new daily low fare concept is being tested, which will also result in doing away with change fees completely on all flights operating on Key West routes.
Jason Bewley, CFO and Executive Vice President of Silver Airways, said, “The company has always wanted to provide affordable and highly cost-effective travel to its customers. It is a matter of immense happiness that new lower fares have been introduced, and also a decision to scrap change fees completely in the Key West market.”
Bevley said that now that the new lower fares are effectively in place, those residing in Fort Myers, Orlando, Tampa and Fort Lauderdale will now find it affordable to venture on a quick weekend getaway to Key West. The newly introduced pricing would also boost tourism in Key West. This would particularly benefit the Floridians, who mostly prefer driving to the Key West. Now with lower fares they will increasingly prefer to fly, arriving to this unique destination quickly and staying longer, instead of driving.
The testing of the new everyday lower fare concept would be continued through May 31, 2017. If this finally proves to be successful then the airline would consider expanding this strategy to other markets in the United States as well.
Meanwhile, in another development the Florida-based regional low-cost carrier Silver Airways has signed an interline agreement with Canada’s national carrier Air Canada. The customers of either airline will now be able to travel on a single ticket to above 60 cities in Air Canada’s network, and to nearly 20 cities in Silver Airways’ network in the Bahamas and Florida.
