Singapore Airlines and Scandinavian Airlines sign joint venture agreement

Singapore Airlines recently announced it has signed a joint venture agreement with Scandinavian Airlines.

CEO of Singapore Airlines Goh Choon Phong and Scandinavian Airlines’ CEO Rickard Gustafson signed the JV pact in Singapore.

Earlier, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in January this year covering routes between Singapore and Scandinavia to be operated by Scandinavian Airlines and Singapore Airlines flights. Both the carriers are members of Star Alliance, the global airline alliance.
 
The agreement will enable both the carriers to go beyond their existing codeshare partnership. Both the carriers will now be jointly involved in the coordination of flight schedules, joint sales activities and enhanced network connectivity.

The new partnership is expected to boost the existing air services between Singapore and Scandinavia, paving the way for the launch of a new route between Singapore and Stockholm.

Currently, Singapore Airlines is operating three weekly flights between Singapore and Copenhagen through a codeshare partnership with Scandinavian Airlines.
