Singapore Airlines may expand codeshare with Virgin Australia

Singapore Airlines recently announced it is aiming to expand its codeshare agreement with Virgin Australia across the Tasman.

The airline in a statement said that if the codeshare pact is expanded, the passengers booking Singapore Airlines flights tickets would also be able to travel to other Australian destinations, such as Wellington, Queenstown and Dunedin.

Currently, Singapore Airlines flights are operated twice daily between Singapore and Auckland. Apart from this, the airline also operates once daily flight from Christchurch to Singapore.

The airline said that the expansion of codeshare deal with Virgin Australia would provide opportunity to Australian travelers to make the best use of Singapore Airline’s international network easily.

Media reports quoted a Singapore Airlines spokesman as saying that the airline would also be sharing Virgin Australia’s flights into New Zealand in the coming months. The spokesman further said that the codeshare deal would help the airline to significantly boost its distribution network and enable its customers to travel between destinations like London and Queenstown.
