Spirit Airlines declares Q4 and Full Year 2011 results

Spirit Airlines recently announced its Q4 and Full Year 2011 operational results on a rather upbeat note. The airline reported total operating revenue for Q4 2011 at $273.9 million, an increase of $57.7 million, or 26.7 percent as compared to Q4 2010. According to the airline, the increase in its operating revenue was due to higher passenger volumes coupled with both stronger ticket and non-ticket revenues.

Providing further details, Spirit Airlines disclosed that its total revenue per available seat mile (RASM) increased to 11.89 cents, up 21.1 percent compared to Q4 2010. The load factor increase was of 1.1 points. The airline also stated that its total revenue per passenger flight segment (PFS) for Q4 2011 increased to $126.22, up 11.2 percent as compared to Q4 2010. The airline said that it experienced continued growth in revenue from many previously adopted non-ticket revenue initiatives. 

Regarding Full Year 2011 operational results, the airline revealed that its total operating revenue increased $289.9 million, or 37.1 percent, to $1.1 billion compared to the full year 2010.
