SWISS launching nonstop Zurich-Singapore flights from May next year

Switzerland’s national flag carrier Swiss International Air Lines, popularly known as SWISS, recently announced it will be launching nonstop flights to Singapore from May next year.

The airline in a statement said that SWISS flights between Zurich and Singapore will be launched from May 12, 2013. The flights between the two destinations are being launched four years after the airline dropped its route via Bangkok.

Earlier, SWISS decided to curtail its flights services to Singapore after 40 years of operations considering the recent trends and changes in passenger demand.

The airline has now decided to begin daily nonstop flights to the southeast Asian city-state of Singapore from Zurich effective May 12 next year. The airline will be deploying an Airbus A340 aircraft configured with 219 seats to operate the flights on Zurich-Singapore route.
 
According to the airline, the customers will be able to book SWISS flights tickets to Singapore from Zurich starting October 8, 2012.

Currently, Singapore Airlines is operating daily flights between Zurich and Singapore with the help of an Airbus A380 aircraft under a codeshare agreement with SWISS.
