A lounge in the sky: Flying with China Airlines’ Boeing 777-300ER

China Airlines from Taiwan has taken the reigns of Boeing 777-300ER with 358 seats consisting of business class, premium economy and economy class. There are 40 business class, 62 premium economy and 256 economy seats. The award-winning architect Ray Chen from Taiwan has designed the interiors of the plane wherein cabin walls are furnished with wood grain of persimmon tree.

The Business class has been revolutionized with fully lie-flat 78-inch beds and unique mood lighting. The seats are customized Super Diamond Model Set by B/E Aerospace laid out in 1-2-1 configuration for direct aisle access. The business cabin also features a Sky Lounge. Sky Lounge promises an unmatched lavishness of a China Airlines flight where your tea and coffee craving is taken care of. There are “Western Fashionable Coffee Area”, “Literary Tea-tasting Area” and a cocktail bar with pot noodles, tapas and libations. The Sky Lounge is complete with bookshelves on each side with popular English and Chinese titles.

Boeing 777-300ER features a Premium Economy class for the first time in China Airlines. The 62 seats are designed with a fixed back shell which facilitates reclining the seats without troubling the passengers in the row behind. The seats have 39-inch legroom.

The airline has also added “Asia’s First Family Couch” design in the aircraft for Economy class passengers. The seats can be transformed into sofa beds by raising the footrest. These seats are perfect for people traveling with their families. The seats have 120 degree recline.

The Taiwanese carrier has equipped the Boeing-777ER with Panasonic eX3 in-flight entertainment system, which supports “Seat Chat”. It is an innovative social networking function within flight allowing passengers to interact via instant messaging. The in-flight entertainment features large screen sizes - 18 inches, 12.1 inches and 11.1 inches for Premium Business, Premium Economy and Economy Class passengers respectively.

The premium class travelers also get to taste Taiwanese Teas during their flight including Oriental Beauty Tea, Lishan Oolong Tea Shan Lin Xi Tea, Alishan Oolong Tea, Charcoal Tung Ting Oolong Tea and Sun Moon Lake Black Tea.
