AA Adds Second Daily Flight on London-Charlotte Route

American Airline to add second daily flights between London Heathrow and Charlotte Douglas International Airport. This additional flight is part of AA’s attempt to boost international flights from Charlotte Douglas International Airport, which also happens to be a part of its merger program with US Airways.

Additional flight on this route will commence from September 13, 2014 and bookings will begin from July 6, 2014. The additional flight departs from Charlotte Douglas at 2230 hours and arrives in London Heathrow at 1125 hours the next day; return flight departs London Heathrow at 1425 hours and arrives in Charlotte Douglas at 1820 hours. Flights will be operated by US Airways using widebody Airbus A330-200 aircraft fitted with 20 lie-flat seats in business class and 238 in economy class.

This flight will complement its existing daily service also operated by US airways using 291-seat Airbus A330-300 departing from Charlotte at 1855 hours and arriving in London Heathrow at 0750 hours the next day. Charlotte Douglas International Airport was the largest hub for US airways and is now the second-largest hub for AA.

Chuck Schubert, VP Network Planning for American Airlines said adding this flight makes a lot of sense keeping in mind our existing portfolio of flights that we presently offer to London Heathrow. Heathrow route is one of our most popular routes. We have flown nearly 65,000 travelers between Charlotte-Heathrow in the last 8 months, with approximately 70,000 seats still available on the route.

American Airlines Group flies to 38 international destinations including 10 in Europe from Charlotte Douglas International Airport, serving nearly 90% of the total passenger traffic of the city.
