Leading Greek carrier Aegean Airlines has been announced the winner of Best Regional Airline Europe award at the Paris Air Show.
Aegean Airlines is a member of biggest global airline network Star Alliance. It is also the largest carrier in Greece.
The airline was named winner at World Airline Awards 2011 at a ceremony organized in French Air and Space Museum during Paris Air Show.
Besides, the Aegean Airline has also been declared runner-up in Airline Staff Service Excellence in Europe category as well as in World’s Best Regional Airline category.
The prestigious World Airline Awards are given to airlines in various categories in recognition of their service standards and quality front-line product.
Over 18.8 million airline passengers take part in the voting process, belonging to 100 different nationalities.
There were 200 airlines that competed with each other in the World Airline Awards 2011. The awards are given based on customer satisfaction levels. A total of 38 different items of front-line product and services of various airlines are taken into account to present the awards. Some of the items in the survey included onboard seat comfort, check-in to boarding, food, beverages, cabin cleanliness, IFE and staff service.
The awards are based on world airline survey conducted by the reputed Skytrax. The awards are also widely respected as the true Passengers Choice awards across the world.
Skytrax conducted the survey between July 2010 and May 2011. During the period of the survey, passengers were asked to complete an exhaustive range of survey nominations, which included Airline of the Year title, along with regional as well as other award categories.
