Aer Lingus resumes direct flights between San Francisco and Dublin

Aer Lingus recently announced it has resumed its direct flights services between the Irish capital city Dublin and San Francisco. The launch of direct flights to San Francisco has given a boost to Ireland’s reputation as a strategic international business hub for tech companies from California looking for global growth.

The flights, which started from April 2, 2014, arrived at San Francisco International Airport for the first time ever since it stopped flying because of 2009 economic crisis. The airline was then operating flights four times every week.

Aer Lingus will now be operating five flights every week. The flight will depart for Dublin International Airport at 5.20 pm. The return flight from San Francisco International Airport will be at 3.20 pm. The flight duration of around 10 to 11 hours will make it the longest flight on the airline’s route network covering 70 cities.

The airline will be deploying an Airbus A330-200 aircraft configured with 267 seats for operating on San Francisco-Dublin route. The aircraft will have 243 seats in Economy Class and 24 seats in Business Class. The airline is currently offering angled lie-flat seats in business class, but will be equipping the aircraft with new lie-flat seats by the end of this year.

Flying with Aer Lingus from Dublin has its own advantages. The passengers taking flights from Dublin to San Francisco will have pre-clearance from U.S. customs and immigration before boarding their aircraft. This will save passengers from clearance hurdles at San Francisco International Airport thus making it appear to be a domestic flight.
