Aer Lingus to offer Wi-Fi service on its transatlantic flights

Aer Lingus has some good news for its customers. The Irish airline is set to launch Wi-Fi on its transatlantic flights on trail basis for a few months. The carrier is contemplating offering internet access to customers on their electronic devices like mobile phones, laptops, and tablets up in the air.

Passengers traveling on cheap business class tickets with the airline will be able to enjoy the service free of cost. Otherwise the airline will charge the service at $15 for one hour and $27 for 24 hours. The airline is equipping seven of its Airbus A330 aircraft with the facility. The satellite technology has been provided by Panasonic Corporation to the airline.

The carrier is proud of being only the second European airline to offer the internet facility to its customers onboard. It believes it is in the forefront of providing in-flight internet access. With this facility the airline will offer its business customers yet another chance to enhance their experience with the airline. It believes passengers on long haul flights will benefit and enjoy accessing the internet many feet above the ground. The concept of onboard Wi-Fi is prevalent with the carriers operating out of the United States. This concept is growing outside of the US but very slowly.

The airline is popular for operating an Airbus only fleet across destinations in Europe, North America, Turkey and the United States. Some of the amenities offered to business class passengers include priority check-ins, lie-flat seating, access to top-class lounges at the airport, priority baggage delivery, excellent dining, and in-flight entertainment.
