Aer Lingus to upgrade business class seats in 2015

Aer Lingus has recently announced to upgrade its business class seats. The airline is going to provide full-flat seats in business class on its long distance Airbus A330 fleet, starting 2015.

The new seat reclines to 2 meters, converts into 6.5 feet fully-flat bed, and offer many innovative features including a universal plug and USB port, storage spaces for laptops, shoes, and jackets. The upgraded business class cabin will have a staggered 1-2-1 and 1-2-2 seating configuration from its previous 2-2-2 angled-seat configuration.

The upgraded business cabin will have 31 seats instead of its current 24 seats. In-flight entertainment through 16’’ private screens and complementary Wi-Fi will be offered onboard.

Business Class passengers will also be provided with upgraded service on the ground. Two new lounges will be launched, one at New York JFK and the other at the newly built terminal 2 of London Heathrow. Passengers flying on overnight east bound flights from Boston and JFK will get a choice to eat their meals before taking their flight. This will ensure maximum time for sleeping and relaxing.

Non-US citizen traveling to the US using Aer Lingus will be provided with pre-clearance in Ireland. This means that passengers arrive as a domestic flight in the US. It is quite similar to the exclusive service provided by British Airways on London City - JFK route.
