Air Canada begins new flights on Montreal-Marseille route in June

Air Canada recently announced it will be launching new nonstop flights from Montreal to Marseille and Algiers in June next year. The new services would be operated seasonally. The new routes are yet to be approved by the government.

Benjamin Smith, President of Passenger Airlines at Air Canada, said, “It’s a matter of great delight that nonstop flights services to new exciting French-speaking destinations – Algiers and Marseille – are being launched from Montreal in June 2017. The new services are in addition to the recently introduced Montreal-Shanghai service. This shows the airline’s commitment and once again reinforced Montreal-Trudeau as a strategic hub for the North Eastern United States and entire Eastern Canada.”

With the launch of flights to Marseille, Air Canada has sought to further expand its network in France. The airline is already operating flights to three major French cities, including Paris, Nice and Lyon. Moreover, the airline has also strengthened its presence in the summer destination of Provence-Côte d'Azur, which is hugely popular with the residents of Quebec. The airline also said that the new flights to Marseille would its only nonstop service from North America.

In the North African nation of Algeria, Air Canada is already boasting of its successful flights services in Casablanca and again returning for a year-round service in April 2017. The airline’s plans to launch flights to Algiers, the capital city of Algeria, would make the city its second destination in Africa. Air Canada has also become one of the few international airlines to conduct flights to all the six inhabited continents.

The new seasonal flights on Montreal-Marseille and Montreal-Algiers routes would be operated by Air Canada’s subsidiary Air Canada Rogue with the help of a Boeing 767-300ER aircraft configured with a total of 282 seats. The customers traveling on both routes would be offered options of traveling in three classes – Premium Rogue, Preferred and Economy. The customers booking tickets for travel in Premium Rogue can look forward to enhanced service and additional personal space. The customers would be offered additional legroom in Preferred seating.
