Air Canada new baggage fees for passengers to US

Air Canada recently announced that it will change its baggage rules for customers flying to US on Economy Class.

The airline said that it will begin to charge its customers a baggage fee even if they carry one bag when flying Economy Class to US.

According to the airline, customers will pay for the luggage checked on behalf of the infants traveling along with them. However, check-in fees would be exempted for infants traveling on the lap of an accompanying adult. The same exemption would apply on one car seat and stroller.

Providing details about new baggage rules for passengers to US, Air Canada said that it will charge US$25 for first checked bag.

The current charge for second bag has also been increased from US$30 to US$35. For carrying two bags, customers will pay US$60.

Besides, on some international flights the customers will have to pay a new charge of US$70 for the second bag. However, they will not be charged for the first checked baggage. Air Canada said that the maximum weight of the checked bags should be 23 kg.

The new charges will be applicable on tickets issued on or after October 11, 2011.
