Air Canada places a mammoth order with Boeing for 737 MAX planes

Air Canada announced its decision to switch to Boeing for operating its fleet of narrow body aircrafts. The flagship carrier of Canada currently uses Airbus series narrow body planes and is keen to replace them with Boeing aircrafts.

The airline operates service to over 178 domestic and international destinations and offers plane tickets to millions of passengers each year. The airline has sealed its plans for its fleet renewal program and has placed orders for 109 Boeing 737 MAX aircrafts with the American manufacturer. Replacing the existing fleet will help the airline become the one with world’s youngest and fuel efficient airline fleet.

As per the order, the airline will acquire 33 737 MAX 8 and 28 737 MAX 9 aircrafts among others. The expected delivery date is in 2017 and it is set to receive two planes in that year. It would receive additional 16 planes in 2018, 18 in 2019, 16 in 1920, and 9 in 2021.

The management is happy about placing these orders with the company. In an official statement, the airline said that the airline intends to offer better comforts to its passengers. Therefore, as a part of the larger strategy has decided to procure the B 737 MAX planes. The airline, which has been voted, as the best North American airline several times, believes these planes will help it strengthen its position in the competitive world. It also is relying on the fact that these aircrafts are fuel-efficient and will help it save costs.
