Air Canada to retrofit its long-haul B777s akin to Dreamliners

Air Canada recently announced it will retrofit its long-haul Boeing 777 aircrafts. The airline said that it will be add new seats in business class, premium economy and economy class on the similar lines of its Dreamliner aircrafts. The airline''s fleet of 25 Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 777-200LR aircrafts will undergo retrofitting from the fourth quarter of 2015. The retrofit exercise is expected to be completed in the second half of 2016.

Robert Atkinson, Air Canada''s General Manager UK, Ireland and Northern Europe, said, “”The airline has always been upgrading and modernising its international fleet by making huge investments. The airline has also recently introduced new Boeing 787 and Boeing 777 aircrafts as well. The refurbishing of international business class cabins is aimed at offering the customers luxurious onboard experience which will be consistent with the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet.””

Air Canada is presently serving its Montreal-Paris, Vancouver-Hong Kong, London-Montreal and London-Vancouver routes with the help of its new three-class Boeing 777-300ER aircrafts. However, the London-Vancouver and London-Montreal routes are being operated on a seasonal basis.

Currently, Air Canada has three business class products. The airline is offering fully-flat beds on its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, which is being served on London-Montreal and London-Vancouver routes. The business class cabin has been named the “”Studio Pod””. The airline has indicated that it will introduce a new business class product named the “”Executive Pod”” after the retrofit is finally completed. The “”Executive Pod”” is presently found on the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.
