Air Canada US bound flights increase baggage fees

Air Canada, while reinforcing strategies to offset the effect of fuel prices on its operations, is planning to start charging every piece of luggage US-bound travelers check on their economy class flights. Up till now, the airline has been charging for the second bag. Once the policy is enforced, passengers would have to shell out an extra $25 for the first piece and an additional $30 to $35 per extra piece. The fee would fluctuate on some international flights between $50 and $70, though the first bag would stay free on these flights.

This condition would not apply on all passengers booked before September 7th or traveling before October 11. While the first bag would be charged, one car seat and one stroller would be allowed per adult for an infant.

The condition is applicable only for US bound flights. Canadian domestic flights would not charge for the first bag.
